Our first trip of 2026 was off to the east coast of Sweden, just a few hundred kilometres from the arctic circle. We thought it best to check the weather before the trip and spend some time preparing the truck and trailer for the cold weather, including loading up the snow chains and shovels.<\/p>\n
We collected the boat and it’s trailer from Kent and headed across to Sweden – anticipating the cold. Driving in the more extreme weather conditions always comes with additional challenges, but the nordic countries are generally far more prepared than the UK – with a huge fleet of gritters and snow plows working 24\/7 to keep their infrastructure flowing.<\/p>\n
When I could finally see the Swedish coast from the North Sea (and the huge piles of snow within the port) I wrapped up warm and faced the elements. 500kms later, I arrived safely in the archipelago to the north-east of Stockholm to safely unload the boat. There are elements of journeys like this which wouldn’t normally enter someone’s mind, like where to buy the fuel – Swedish fuel generally contains more additives than fuel sold in the UK, which helps to prevent the fuel from freezing, and much deeper tread is a must!<\/p>\n
The boat and trailer were both unloaded safely ahead of schedule and allowed for a beautiful journey back to the UK, taking in the breathtaking views of Sweden’s countryside, blanketed as far as the eye can see with snow. This was the first trip in our new Scania S500 into Scandinavia, and so we were keen to see how it would perform in these conditions, and it didn’t disappoint. All the equipment worked perfectly throughout (especially the night heater!), and helped us rise to the challenge, stay safe, and deliver the boat for a happy customer.<\/p>\n
We love delivering boats across the UK and overseas, but we all have our favourite overseas destinations; Sweden is most certainly high on that list!<\/p>\n
