2023 was a good year for the marine industry with plenty of folk buying and selling new and used boats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have seen that the second-hand market in the UK has limited choice. Some of our clients are now looking into Europe to make their next purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since Brexit at the start of 2020, transports in and out of Europe have become more challenging, but it still accounts for 50% of our work. We can help our clients with all the customs paperwork alongside the transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customs Procedures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Typically, clients would be looking to take their boats from the UK into Europe on a Temporary Admissions Procedure. Others, who already have their boats in Europe and are wanting to return them to the UK, would ideally be using the Returned Goods Relief Procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If a client is looking to buy a new or used boat in Europe for use in the UK, they will have to pay VAT on the current value of the boat and the transport cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are other customs procedures, for example, Permanent Exports, and ATA Carnets (used for exhibitions, or demos), all of which we can assist with, alongside the transportation. The transportation of goods in and out of Europe does give more challenges; customs procedures, and possible VAT and Duty bills, but please be assured that we can help you through all of these processes.
